Bodegas Carrau Tannat de Reserva

What Possessed Us To Open Wine?
This is part two of #winechat. We started with white (see post before this one) we ended with red. That’s exactly how a night should go!

What Did The Label Want Us To Know?
It’s from the Las Violetas region on Uruguay. They talk about a “long traditional maceration of 15 days and aging in new French oak barrels for 18 months.” The family started in Catalynya, Spain and moved to Uruguay in the early 20th century. They even have a little map of South America showing where Uruguay is in case we need to know! Uruguay feels kind of like a wine secret.

What’s So Great About It?
Loved the smell right off. Leather. We thought it was fruity, blackberry and dark cherry with a peppery ending. It was delightful and fun because the taste of the grape was a little different.
