Donati Claret 2009

What Possessed Us To Open Wine?
It was the night AFTER the Christmas Party at our house. The last of the dessert plates and Christmas coffee mugs had been put away. All 45 wine glasses were hand washed and stored neatly. Certainly that calls for wine!

What Did The Label Want Us To Know?
Donati is from the Central Coast of California. The AVA is Paicines. The weather, (hot days and cool nights) features into the complexity of their wine. The grapes herein are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.

What’s So Great About It?
This was recommended to us by a guy in the wine department of one of our favorite wine stores: Bubbles! We buy so much wine, he knows what we like. Immediately I noticed the darkness, the rich red color. Smelled like oak and nuts and pepper. The smell is big and the taste is big. I already knew I would really like it because it contained Petit Verdot. I like everything I have ever tried that did!!
