Happy?
Favorite thing that has EVER happened in a bar. We sat on the corner of the bar because I thought it would be fun but did not see that there was a small but prominent TV next to us. Well, the bartender came over to greet us and handed us the REMOTE and said, “ Hey, just switch this off if it is annoying you.” He totally wins!!! As a gr bartender! Switch off the TV. All my problems are solved. He left the remote with us and when David left to visit the men’s room, Jess switched it off and David NEVER NOTICED. Also happy that Jessica’s friend, Nick, joined us. Also happy that this bar is so dark I look 35. Also happy that it was kind of full of people at 5pm and it seemed like people from the neighborhood not just people from the hotel. Lots of happy stuff.

Not Happy?
We were not happy about the fact that Nick was not drinking. He had had a hard weekend. This was Tuesday, so one would think he would be over it, but apparently there is a limit to how much one can consume. The fact that Nick was not drinking did not deter from his charm. He was still delightful and fun.

Concealed Carry or No Concealed Carry?
Okay, so they have a parking garage which is small, but David could still park his huge stupid truck in a space. It seems a little seedy, but it’s free parking, so stop complaining. We covered up the iPad and iPod that we left in the truck felt fine. Especially for Happy Hour you are fine.

How Happy Does It Get?
So happy. ½ off all drinks!!! This includes wine by the glass plus a whole lot of other choices including a whole Absinthe section. Jess and I drank the Cabernet. David had the Malbec which was from somewhere not in Argentina and David said it was unusual (whatever that means) They also have a list of $3 tapas for Happy Hour. Good deal.

Cuteness Factor:
This bar is a throw back to Dean Martin. (smoky mirrors on the walls) It is small, dark and heavy on wood and black. There is very low lighting, making me young and they are playing good jazz. The bartender is very friendly (see below) and the ceilings are very low. You could think you are stuck in the 70s, but somehow they pull it off and make it comfortable.

The Stuff Other Than Wine:
It’s mostly a carb world here. David did order the shrimp cocktail from the regular menu $11 and it was good. Jessica and Nick consumed the Tapa’s Platter $13 which featured all the $3 Tapas on their Happy Hour menu: Potato Crisps with Gorgonzola Dip. Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Tomato Basil Bruschetta, Mushroom or Shrimp Quesadilla, (they chose Shrimp) Fried Pita Chips with Artichoke Dip, and Mushroom and Brie Risotto Cakes. Pretty fun! You can order from their regular menu as well.

Those People Who Bring Me Alcohol:
As alluded to before, the bartender was GREAT. David said he made us feel the exact amount of comfortable and welcome that makes for a great experience. He was funny, friendly, competent and everything you would hope for. Delightful.

Problems of the World Solved:
David got the flu and lost 7 pounds. I personally hate him
Why do people get radical tattoos that cover their whole arms?
When you have been married for 30 years, you can fight fast and get over it
What should Jess wear to a Murder Mystery Birthday Party with a 70s theme, you’d think I would be able to help her figure it out, but I blocked the 70s all out
Where shall we park for the Taste of Colorado this weekend?

We are HAPPY to Happy Hour here!!

Nick is just my friend now?! Hmmm are you trying to protect the Corum children?! They won’t be reading this! Lol! It was so fun!

Jessica, the millions of people who read this blog do not need to know everything about you. I am merely protecting your privacy, but announce what you will!

  3. I don't Read Much says:

This is very sad. A woman with a remote in hand who has NO PLANS to use it to put it on an available football game! Surely there is no dispensation for that….

Finally….I think the millions of people who read your blog need to know about everything Jessica does. She leads an exciting life; one that many of us old farts can on in memory recall in our own lives. Live one, Jess! lol
